WFMW-Lemon Juice – Hold the Seeds!   7 comments

Many times a recipe will call for the juice of one lemon.  Well, I really don’t want to take out my juicer and get it all dirty for the juice of one lemon but then I really don’t want to fish for lemon seeds in my freshly squeezed juice either!  I have found a wonderful solution:

These little guys are like shower caps for your lemons! You can squeeze the juice from your lemons and the seeds stay in the net!

I purchased my Lemon Stretch Wraps at Sur La Table and they TOTALLY WORK FOR ME!

WFMW-Dusting Trick or Treat?   10 comments

For WFMW this week, I would like to share my two favorite dusting buddies: Real Simple Microfiber Cloth for Dusting and my Sticky Lint Roller.  These buddies work hand in hand in my cleaning regimine. When I use my dusting cloth and it gets dusty and yucky before I am done cleaning, I don’t want to shake it out and I can’t wash it yet so here’s what I do. I use my sticky lint roller and roll off the dust and then get back to dusting!  Treat!

Now, my sticky lint roller is a fabulous quick vacuum in a pinch as well.  If I’m doing a quick clean and don’t want to pull out the entire vacuum for a little area rug (or don’t want my guests to hear me vacuuming 😉 I run my sticky lint roller over the area rugs and bathroom floors to pick up the hair and dust!  You could also give one to each of your kids when company is on their way and you could have a clean looking house in no time and no vacuum sound to give you away! I keep one in each bathroom! Trick!

WFMW-Tissues on Demand   8 comments

Driving down the freeway going ONLY 20 miles an hour, I start to cry!  I need a tissue to wipe away my rush hour tears.  Its okay though!  I remember that I have my tissues on demand and wipe my tears and snot away.  I purchased this lovely little container at a carwash.  It makes me smile.  No more tears!

I just keep refilling it with more tissues as they run out.  If you are in a crafty mood, I am sure you can create one for your car if you can’t find one of these at your car wash.

WFMW – Socks for Shoes   3 comments

Here’s a solution that I found in Real Simple Magazine:

Men's Socks Can Protect Your Shoes

This is an easy and affordable way to protect your nice shoes from wear and tear when you’re traveling.  Grab your husband’s old CLEAN socks and stick your shoes in them.  Your reward will be scratch-free shoes when you arrive at your final destination! Works For Me!

WFMW-Expanding Waist Solution   12 comments

Alter Pant Waistband with Rubber Bands

Alter Pant Waistband with Rubber Bands

Here’s a solution that I found in Real Simple Magazine for altering pants to accommodate an all of the sudden larger waist, whether it be by a new pregnancy or a double cheeseburger.

If you have a button and a buttonhole (shown above), or a wide hook and eye, loop one rubber band through the buttonhole or eye and then secure the other side around the button or hook.

For tab-front pants with two buttons, loop two rubber bands (or ponytail holders) through one another like a figure eight, then attach each loop to a button on either side.

Now you don’t have to waste money on a desperate pants purchase. Works for Me!

WFMW – Tablecloth for the Bed   13 comments

I have family coming for the July 4th week and I wanted to make the guest room look less boring and more inviting without spending the money for a new bedspread!

One afternoon I was looking through my linen closet and a tablecloth my dear sister purchased for me at the Good Will jumped out at me. I thought to myself – too bad this isn’t a bedspread. Then it hit me! Why not! This could work! And lo and behold:

Works for Me! Perky little tablecloth huh?! Now I’m thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas and that just has me way too excited about decorating my guest room for all the seasons!  Oh am I in trouble!

Real Simple Solutions – New Uses for Old Things – A Fork

Original Purpose: Twirling Spaghetti.

AHA! Use: Reviving dents in carpeting made by heavy furniture.  Use the tines to gently fluff plush carpet fibers back to their original height.  Now, that’s a real fork lift.

Reward: A smooth rug.

Hey, it worked for me! Check out Rocks in Dryer for more Works for Me Wednesday Tips!
