Saying A Prayer

When I kneel down
To say my prayer
Each word goes climbing
Up a stair
Of wind and air
To where
God sits
And listens and rejoices
In little children’s thoughts
And voices.

The Legend of the Dogwood Poem   12 comments

My  sister posted about the Legend of the Dogwood today and since I recently discovered that I had two Dogwood trees in my backyard, I decided to share this poem.  I never knew that these two trees were Dogwoods.  It gives me a new appreciation for this beautiful tree.  Even though it is just a legend,  I appreciate the reminder of my Savior’s sacrifice for me whenever I see these trees!

Blessings on you as we anticipate Resurrection Sunday!

Wildflowers in Winter – Literary Flowers   7 comments

This week’s theme is: Week 3 – January 30 – February 5. Literary Wildflowers – Stories, quotations or poetry about wildflowers written by you or someone else. Or write a book review about a book that features wildflowers, such a guide book, picture book, travel guide or something about wildflower gardening, etc. Or Write about some special places/trails/areas to go searching for wildflowers that you are familiar with. Tell about the best time of year to go there, and what you might see. Share photographs if you have them.

Song to the Creator
By Lana G!

Walking up the path to the crest of the hill
I came upon a sacred breathtaking scene.
An Artist had left a masterpiece in living color –
A hillside bursting forth with joyful, vivid blooms.
Hundreds of wildflowers gracefully swaying in the breeze
Were reaching out to touch their Maker’s face.
Each one reflecting His beauty in radiant splendor
They were seeking only to glorify Him in shameless praise.
My heart could not keep silent.
I joined the earthly chorus
We were singing Hallelujah to our Creator
We were singing Holy, Holy is His name.

My Book   6 comments

Illustration of girl reading, by Jessie Willcox Smith

MY BOOK!
I did it!
I did it!
Come and look
At what I’ve done!
I read a book!
When someone wrote it
Long ago
For me to read,
How did he know
That this was the book
I’d take from the shelf
And lie on the floor
And read by myself?
I really read it!
Just like that!
Word by word,
From first to last!
I’m sleeping with
This book in bed,
This first FIRST book
I’ve ever read!

The Cloudy, Sunny Summer Day   2 comments

The Cloudy, Sunny Summer Day
By Lana G!

The sun and the clouds were fighting for control of the sky today.
The wind was aiding both, yet aiding none.
A compromise was made.
The sun decided to shine and the clouds burst forth with rain.
A rainbow sealed the deal.

There’s More   3 comments

THERE’S MORE

We can only see a little of the ocean,
Just a few miles distance from the rocky shore,
But out there – far beyond our eyes horizon,
There’s more, immeasurably more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We can only see a little of God’s loving,
A few rich treasures from His mighty store,
But out there – far beyond the eyes horizon,
There’s more, immeasurably more.
I Cor. 13:12
For now we see in a mirror dimly,
but then face to face.
Now I know in part;
then I shall know fully,
even as I have been fully known.
