Hospital-i-Tea Blog-a-Thon   14 comments

March 23 – March 29

Share tea from the perspective of literature. Post a tea quote, a verse or poem, or story. Tell about a favorite tea book. This would be a good time to share how you use tea to encourage others. Do you minister to others by sending them tea themed cards to friends and shut-ins? Or another way you use ‘tea’ to share joy with others? I know some of you do — so tell your story!

March 16 – March 22

Share a picture of your favorite teacup and saucer; describe it and tell it’s history (or make up a story about it’s past). Why is it meaningful to you? This would be a good place to share about the details of your teacup collection if you have one.

Since I am a little behind on this blog-a-thon, this will be two posts in one to catch up!

I have a very eclectic teacup collection.  This is one of my favorite “single” teacups.  I found it at Goodwill and just love the flowers on it. It is bone china from England and it was screaming “buy me!”.  So I did.

The Litera-Tea that I would like to share is my Tea at Glenbrooke – A Quiet Place Where Souls are Refreshed by Robin Jones Gunn.  I enjoyed her Glenbrooke novel series and this was such a nice end to the series.  It is filled with quotes, stories, recipes and tea trivia. A lovely read indeed!

Tea is very relaxing for me.  I make sure I have plenty of different flavors and blends at work and at home.  My husband even enjoys green tea at work in the late afternoon rather than coffee.  I do enjoy my morning cup of coffee, but after that, I could have tea the rest of the day.  I don’t drink tea out of that lovely teacup and saucer above though.  This is what I drink my tea in at home…

That is my bone china mug made in England.  I bought that lovely item at Butchart Gardens.  Now that’s a cup of tea!

Ultimate Blog Party   96 comments

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Hello and welcome to my blog! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Lana G! I am a MCWWNK (married Christian woman with no kids). I have a wonderful husband named Steve and we will have been married 20 years this July. We live in the state of Washington and I work in the state of California. This puts me on a plane two times a week, hence the name of my blog – Above the Clouds.

The fun part of this Ultimate Blogging Party is that today is my Blogging One Year Anniversary! Time flies when you are having fun! I must admit that I started blogging out of curiosity because of my sister Ellen. She started blogging and I found it fascinating and tried it out on the sly! But then I was hooked and I absolutely love blogging.

I really did not have a particular goal for my blog when I first started and now the following verses that Paul writes about in Philemon 4-7 are what I would like for people to experience here:

I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

I want you to experience all that here and most of all that your heart is refreshed in the Lord! The way that I hope to do this is not only through what is written and shared here but also by my photography. That is why 99% of my posts include a photograph. I am not a professional by any means but I really enjoy photography.

One of my favorite things to do with my photos is to make collages as well as Bible verse photos. I do not go anywhere without my camera. I even take pictures at the grocery store! This makes for interesting photos to match a verse to and it also has allowed me to appreciate all the wonders of creation!

Blogging has blessed my socks off. I am so encouraged by the different blogs I visit. I love participating in several different memes and photography challenges during the week. Blogging keeps me up to date with friends and loved ones and they in turn are up to date on what is happening in our lives.

So, feel free to peek around my blog and I hope and pray that you will leave here refreshed and blessed!

Fun Monday!   21 comments

Fun Monday this week is being hosted by SayreSmiles Here is our assignment…

Every day as I go to work, I see things around me that make me laugh. Usually these are in the forms of signs. So take your camera with you as you go about your business and take a picture of the things that make you laugh along the way (but it doesn’t necessarily HAVE to be a sign).

What makes me laugh is this:

What’s so funny about this picture?  Before I started blogging, I would have never attempted taking a picture of a sunset in my car while doing 65 miles an hour on the highway!  Skills people, I got me some skills!

At least I’m not texting or on my cell phone at the same time! Never was really good at texting anyway.

Here is a sign I did see recently but not on my way to work:

Know & Tell Friday   7 comments

This is my first time participating in this fun Friday Meme.  Here it goes…

Question 1
Which is worse? Being gossipped about or being lied to?  This is a tough question.  Both are bad, but I am going to go with the gossip one since that involves more than one person and how many people it could eventually affect!

Question 2
I see that a lot of ladies out there in blogville are “Starbucks” gals… What is your favorite “Starbucks” drink?  Coffee – Vente 1/2 Caf Breve Misto; Tea 1 pump Grande Chai Latte.

Question 3
Name an embarrassing moment (Make it good). Walked off a flight and realized that my zipper was down the entire time!

Question 4
I figure that most of us ladies out there are bargain shoppers and that we find ways to save money, but what is one thing that you don’t mind spending your bucks on?  A GOOD BRA!

Bonus Questions

Question 5
Is it hard for you to ask someone to forgive you when you have wronged them?  Hard at first and then when I am done, I wonder why it took me so long!

Question 6
Give one of your best parenting tips…something that you have learned through experience… Remember you are a parent first and foremost.  When you try to be a friend instead, you avoid the tough love discipline that sometimes is so necessary.
