Praying For My Husband Monday   4 comments

This week I will be praying for my husband’s Priorities – again this is from Stormie Omartian’s book The Power of a Praying Wife…

God, I proclaim You Lord over my life. Help me to seek You first every day and set my priorities in perfect order.  Reveal to me how to properly put my Husband before work, family, friends, activities, and interests.  Show me what I can do right now to demonstrate to him that he has this position in my heart.  Mend the times I have caused him to doubt that.  Tell me how to prioritize everything so that whatever steals life away, or has no lasting purpose, will not occupy my time.

I pray for my husband’s priorities to be in perfect order as well. Be Lord and Ruler over his heart.  Help him to choose simplicity of life that will allow him to have time alone with You, Lord, a place to be quiet in Your presence every day. Speak to him about making Your Word, prayer and praise a priority.  Enable him to place me and our home in greater prominence in his heart than career, friends and activities.  I pray he will seek You first and submit his all to You, for when he does, I know the other pieces of his life will fit together perfectly.

This week I will be praying for my husband’s Choices – this is from Stormie Omartian’s book The Power of a Praying Wife…

Lord, fill my husband with the fear of the Lord and give him wisdom for every decision he makes. May he reverance You and Your ways and seek to know your truth.  Give him discermment to make decisions based on Your revelation. Help him to make godly choices and keep him from doing anything foolish.  Take foolishness out of his heart and enable him to quickly recognize error and avoid it. Open his eyes to clearly see the consequences of any anticipated behavior.

I pray that he will listen to godly counselors and not be a man who is unteachable.  Give him strength to reject the counsel of the ungodly and hear Your counsel above all others.  I declare that although “there are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel-will stand” (Proverbs 19:21).  Instruct him even as he is sleeping (Psalm 16:7), and in the morning, I pray he will do what’s right rather than follow the leading of his own flesh.  I know the wisdom of this world is foolishness Lord (1 Corinthians 3:19).  May he not buy into it, but keep his eyes on You and ears to hear Your voice.

 His Faith

This week I am praying the prayer from the book

The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian

Lord, I pray that you will give my husband an added measure of faith today. Enlarge his ability to believe in you, your word, your promises, your ways and your power.  Put a longing in his heart to talk with you and hear your voice.  Give him an understanding of what it means to bask in your presence and not just ask for things. May he seek you, rely totally upon you, be led by you, put you first and acknowledge you in everything he does.

Lord, you’ve said that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Feed his soul with your word so his farith grows big enough to believe that with you all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Give him unfailing certainty that what you’ve promised to do, you will do (Romans 4:21). Make his faith a shield of protection.  Put it into action to move the mountains in his life.  Your word says, “the just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17); I pray that he will live the kind of faith-filled life you’ve called us all to experience.  May he know with complete certainty “how great is your goodness, which you have laid up fo those who fear you, which you have prepared for those who trust in you” (Psalm 31:19).

Lord I pray the above for myself as well.  I pray that my faith in you would shine forth and that my husband would be encouraged and have the desire to seek your word and to build his faith stronger everyday.  In your heavenly name I pray, Amen.

This week’s prayer will focus on my husband’s mind.

Lord, I pray that you would put a hedge of protection around my husband’s mind.  I pray that you would give him discernment so that he will clearly hear your voice and not listen to the lies of satan. Lord, I pray that he would take captive every thought and make it obedient to you, Jesus.

Lord, I pray that my husband would love you with all his heart, soul, mind and strength and that he would hunger and thirst after your truth so that he would be able to discern wrong thinking and resist the lies and deception of the enemy.  Lord, I pray that his mind would be controlled by the Spirit so that he would have life and peace.  Give him a sound mind so that he will not harbor any confusing thoughts, nor be tempted with impure, evil, negative or sinful thoughts, but be transformed by the renewing of his mind.

Lord, may my husband be strong in you and in the power of your might.  Help him to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let his requests be made known to you; and may your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind through Christ Jesus.  Lord, I also pray that he would think on these things: whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, having virtue, or anything praiseworthy.

Lord, the same prayer above for my husband applies to me as well.  Lord, I pray that I would not be negative and that I would be able to speak the truth in love.  Lord, I pray that what I share with my husband is encouraging and uplifting.  Continue to work in our lives so that we would glorify you in all we do.

Scriptures used:

Praying For My Husband Monday   6 comments

It’s Monday morning and this week’s prayer for my husband is going to focus on his work…

Father God, I pray for my husband’s work.  I pray that you would bless what he does.  May he be a man of integrity and respected by his co-workers. Give him strength, faith and courage to do his job and to do it well for your glory and honor.   May he call on your name and strive to please you in all he does.

Give him confidence in his abilities so that he can anticipate problems and find solutions quickly.  May he be an asset to his company and not a liability.  Bless the company he works for and may they continue to succeed honestly and without any cause for disgrace.  Show him opportunities that will develop his skills and encourage him to grow.

May he be disciplined in following your lead and following in the path that you have set out for him.  If this means a different career path, may you open those doors for him that no man can shut.

May our home be one that is welcoming to him after a long day of work.  May he feel refreshed and comfortable when he is at home. Show me how I can encourage and support him so that he can have full confidence in me.  Lord may I bring him good and not harm all the days of my life (Proverbs 31:11-12)

Lord, I am asking You to fill him with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that he may live a life worthy of you and please you in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that he may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully give you thanks for all you have provided. (Colossians 1:9-12)

You have blessed us Lord, help us to be good stewards of those blessings in your holy name I pray,

Praying for My Husband Monday   6 comments

This prayer is from the Book  The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian.  I have enjoyed reading several of Stormie’s books on prayer and I am now challenging myself to lift my husband up in prayer regularly.  I am going to post a prayer every Monday.  Please join me in praying for your spouse on Mondays and everyday for that matter.

Lord, Help me to be a good wife. I fully realize that I don’t have what it takes to be one without Your help. Take my selfishness, impatience, and irritability and turn them into kindness, long-suffering, and the willingness to bear all things. Take my old emotional habits, mindsets, automatic reactions, rude assumptions, and self-protective stance, and make me patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. Take the hardness of my heart and break down the walls with Your battering ram of revelation. Give me a new heart and work in me Your love, peace, and joy (Galatians 5:22,23). I am not able to rise above who I am at this moment. Only You can transform me.

Show me where there is sin in my heart, especially with regard to my husband. I confess the times I’ve been unloving, critical, angry, resentful, disrespectful, or unforgiving toward him. Help me to put aside any hurt, anger, or disappointment I feel and forgive him the way You do-totally and completely, no looking back. Make me a tool of reconciliation, peace, and healing in this marriage. Enable us to communicate well and rescue us from the threshold of separation where the realities of divorce begin.

Make me my husband’s helpmate, companion, champion, friend, and support. Help me to create a peaceful, restful, safe place for him to come home to. Teach me how to take care of myself and stay attractive to him. Grow me into a creative and confident woman who is rich in mind, soul, and spirit. Make me the kind of woman he can be proud to say is his wife.

I lay all my expectations at Your cross. I release my husband from the burden of fulfilling me in areas where I should be looking to You. Help me to accept him the way he is and not try to change him. I realize that in some ways he may never change, but at the same time, I release him to change in ways I never thought he could. I leave any changing that needs to be done in Your hands, fully accepting that neither of us is perfect and never will be. Only You, Lord, are perfect and I look to You to perfect us.

Teach me how to pray for my husband and make my prayers a true language of love. Where love has died, create new love between us. Show me what unconditional love really is and how to communicate it in a way he can clearly perceive. Bring unity between us so that we can be in agreement about everything (Amos 3:3). May the God of patience and comfort grant us to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus (Romans 15:5). Make us a team, not pursuing separate, competitive, or independent lives, but working together, overlooking each other’s faults and weaknesses for the greater good of the marriage. Help us to pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another (Romans 14:19). May we be “perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

I pray that our commitment to You and to one another will grow stronger and more passionate every day. Enable him to be the head of the home as You made him to be, and show me how to support and respect him as he rises to that place of leadership. Help me to understand his dreams and see things from his perspective. Reveal to me what he wants and needs and show me potential problems before they arise. Breathe Your life into this marriage.

Make me a new person, Lord. Give me a fresh perspective, a positive outlook, and a renewed relationship with the man You’ve given me. Help me see him with new eyes, new appreciation, new love, new compassion, and new acceptance. Give my husband a new wife, and let it be me.
