Mosaic Monday   15 comments

August 301

Happy Labor Day and Mosaic Monday to you all.

If you want a different way to serve up ice cream, here’s a fabulous way to serve the toppings!  Rather than on the ice cream, how about serving them on the cone!  Simply divine!

Tablescape Tuesday – Anticipating Spring Tea   17 comments

collages53

It was pretty chilly in Washington this weekend.  We had snow on Saturday evening into Sunday and it was quite pretty but it also made me start anticipating Spring!  So, I decided to decorate a Spring Tea Table.  The pink plates are my latest find at the Goodwill as well as one of the tea pots.  Most of the items on this table are from Goodwill.

I did find a new little shop this weekend called the Rose Tree Cottage.  I found some great silks there and the nest and most of the flowers on the napkins are from this shop.  The chair covers are of course pillow cases!  Oh so much cheaper than the real chair covers!  My centerpiece is also a Goodwill find.  I thought it was a unique arrangement and is a fun addition to my Anticipation of Spring Garden Tea!

Do come again soon!  I know Susan is expecting a visit so head on over to her blog to see more tablescapes!

Happy Blue Monday and Happy New Year!   I am combining Blue Monday and Tablescape Tuesday today so that I can show you my current tablescape for this week…

collages45

I wanted a table that was crisp and simple for the New Year.  I have been putting all the Christmas decor away and that always gets my nesting/orgnazing juices flowing!  Boy, have I been busy this weekend “getting my house in order”  – OH MY!

The blue plates were on clearance at Fred Meyer and I purchased those a few years back.  The silver chargers I just purchased at Sur La Table on clearance.  The white tablecloth was a wonderful find at the Goodwill along with the napkins and mirror centerpiece!  The silverware was a clearance item at Target that my sister picked up for me along with the mirrored coasters.  The sweet kissing Dutch youths were a gift as well as the blue vase.  The blue vase is from Russia.  The napkin fold is one I was excited to try from a book I recently purchased.  I like that you can tuck special items into the napkin or anything else to dress up the place setting.    I purchsed the silver wired ribbon and blue flowers from Michaels.

Hope you have a wonderful week and as for me, I think there is another room that needs my attention, or maybe a drawer, or maybe some shelves 🙂

It’s Tablescape Tuesday time!  This week I would like to share my Russian Christmas table with you.  I am Russian and my parents were born in Russia.  It is a heritage I am very proud of and I am happy to be able to share some of my Russian pieces with you.    These were all gifts brought back from Russia…

Here is how the table ended up incorporating all these wonderful treasures…

The black chargers are actually my gold chargers turned upside down.  I loved that it had the black lacquer look of the Russian painted pieces.

So come on over for some good Russian soup, we have a chicken noodle type of soup called Lopsha at Christmas – one of my favorites that I am looking forward to this year!

The red plates and stemware are from Sur La Table.  The white soup bowls were made in England and I purchased them at Goodwill!  The tablecloth  and napkins (on the chairs) are also Russian and were brought back from Russia.

I hope you enjoyed my Russian Christmas Table.  Now head on over to Susan’s at Beyond Naps on the Porch for more Tablescape Tuesday posts!

The napkins/guest towels, Christmas tree and several of the ornaments were purchased at Molbak’s.  The red plates, stemware and table runner were purchased at Sur La Table, the white tablecloth was purchased at Goodwill. The two white plates were a wedding gift and the Spode Christmas plates were purchased on clearance at Mervyns when there were still Mervyn stores open!

A Girly Weekend of Joy!   7 comments

Oh what a weekend!  My nieces, Michelle and Melissa and I flew in from California to Washington on Thursday evening and from then on the fun never ended!  My niece Michelle celebrated her 30th birthday and her gift master minded by her sister Melissa was to have an “Anne of Green Gables Girly Weekend” up in my neck of the woods!

When we arrived in Washingotn we decided that Laura and Katie, my nieces that live up here in Washington were going to spend the weekend at my house so that they could spend as much time as possible with Michelle and Melissa visting from California – slumber party!!

Here’s the weekend in a nutty shell:

Thursday evening – arrived from California, dinner and watched Miss Potter.

Friday – Girls slept in and enjoyed the morning reading and relaxing. Laura came by after working a half day and we then went to the Bellevue Botanical Gardens and Whole Foods to shop for our weekend!  Met up with Katie, had some snacks and started our Anne of Green Gables Marathon. We watched the first DVD – about three hours – So much fun – My sweet nieces sleeping under my roof – PURE JOY!

Saturday – Ebelskivers for breakfast – DELICIOUS!  My nephew Josh and my husband Steve joined us for breakfast and a walk and then the boys were sent away for the day so the girls could prepare for Afternoon Tea and the last four hours of the Anee of Green Gables DVD!  We made chicken sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, scones, cookies and had a delightful tea party! Katie was in charge of decorating the table.  Each spot at the table was individually decorated – Katie you are awesome!  Then came the Anne of Green Gables movie – OH SO WONDERFUL!

Sunday – we enjoyed breakfast with Josh, Dan and Steve joining the girls and then we went to the Japanese Garden in Seattle. We returned and had lunch together and enjoyed food, fun and fellowship. Our weekend was such a success, we decided it must become an annual event!

Open invitation to all my nieces – you are welcome any time! Come on up! May God richly bless each and everyone of you as I am blessed by each one of you! My heart is full of joy and love for each of you!
