[mondaymet.jpg]

It is time for another round of Metamorphosis Monday and this week I would like to show you my breakfast nook.  Here’s the before picture:

Now, never mind that there is a bee catcher in the first photo!  This is the only before shot I had since I forgot to take a picture!

I decided to change my birdhouse theme, which was taking over every corner of my house, and go with a rooster/hen theme in the breakfast nook.  Here’s the after…

The majority of the decorative items in my breakfast nook came from my new favorite store the Cranberry Cottage.  I always find just the right item there!  Now, for more Met Monday posts, click on the cute button above and head on over to Susan’s!

Sunday Hymn – Rise in the Strength of God   6 comments

february-21

Rise in the Strength of God

Rise in the strength of God,
And face life’s uphill way,
The steps which other feet have trod
You tread today.

Press onward, upward still,
To win your way at last,
With better hope and stronger will
Than in the past.

Life’s work more nobly wrought,
Life’s race more bravely run,
Life’s daily conflict faced and fought,
Life’s duty done.

Happy Tablescape Thursday everyone.  Today I am showing you my new cherry plates that I purchased at Fred Meyer a couple of weeks ago.  I redid my breakfast nook area and these dishes fit my new theme.  I decided to do a rooster/hen theme in the breakfast nook but that is a different post altogether!

The centerpiece I just got at my favorite shop the Cranberry Cottage!  Oh did I have fun on Monday shopping there!!

Have a great weekend everyone!  Head on over to Susan’s for more Tablescapes by clicking the button above.

The Acts of the Holy Spirit by A.T. Pierson

We have our Lord Jesus Christ thus presented to us in five aspects of His blessed person and work, which remind us of His fivefold “name” as given in prophecy (Isaiah 9:6 KJV).  Matthew exhibits Him as the “Wonderful” messianic King; Luke as the gracious human “Counselor;” Mark as the “Mighty God,” the miracle worker; John as the “Everlasting Father” in His essential nature.  Acts we have Him as the “Prince of Peace,” ascended to His throne and sending the Paraclete – the Holy Spirit.

This quote got me thinking and I decided to look at each of these books of the New Testament with the fivefold “name” in mind…

Matthew:

Matthew 2:1-2  After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Luke:

Luke 2:46-52  After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.  Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them.  Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.  And as Jesus grew up, he increased in wisdom and in favor with God and people.

Mark:

Mark 4: 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

John:

John 5:19-23  Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.  For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.  For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.  Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,  that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

Acts:

Acts 1:1-5  In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach  until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.  After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.  On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

And so this Quiet Time ends and I am left pondering and reflecting on the names of Jesus  – Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
