I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another way of saying, I will not forgive. Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note – torn in two, and burned up, so that it never can be shown against one.
~Henry Ward Beecher~

Hebrews 8:12
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

  2. If you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forive your sins. Matthew 6:34

Or, as C.S. Lewis paraphrased it, “Forgive or be damned!”
