WFMW-Dusting Trick or Treat?   10 comments

For WFMW this week, I would like to share my two favorite dusting buddies: Real Simple Microfiber Cloth for Dusting and my Sticky Lint Roller.  These buddies work hand in hand in my cleaning regimine. When I use my dusting cloth and it gets dusty and yucky before I am done cleaning, I don’t want to shake it out and I can’t wash it yet so here’s what I do. I use my sticky lint roller and roll off the dust and then get back to dusting!  Treat!

Now, my sticky lint roller is a fabulous quick vacuum in a pinch as well.  If I’m doing a quick clean and don’t want to pull out the entire vacuum for a little area rug (or don’t want my guests to hear me vacuuming 😉 I run my sticky lint roller over the area rugs and bathroom floors to pick up the hair and dust!  You could also give one to each of your kids when company is on their way and you could have a clean looking house in no time and no vacuum sound to give you away! I keep one in each bathroom! Trick!

THESE BUDDIES DEFINITELY WORK FOR ME!

IOW is being hosted this week by Chocolate and Coffee and she has chosen the following quote:

“The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.”

~ A.W. Towzer ~

There were several scriptures that came to mind when I read this quote:

Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

2 Timothy 3:14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

I think a real problem for me is a lack of “whole” scripture knowledge.  I have a tendancy to rely on my few favorite passages to get me through.  Although this is not all bad, it is not the best.  If I continue down this path, my tendancy will be to cherry pick verses out of context to try to manipulate God and his Word and call it “knowledge”.  Yikes, that is not knowledge that is foolishness.

I want to be like the Bereans in Acts who tested what Paul said against the scriptures.  I want to learn scripture in its context so that I will be thoroughly equipped and not have a false knowledge of scripture.  I want to treat scripture as it is: ALIVE not dead.  When I “select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others” I treat the word of God as dead and inactive – NOT GOOD!

I don’t read novels by popping them open and starting where the page happens to open.  Why should I read the Bible in this manner?  Lord, help me to read and learn your word wisely and to correctly handle the word of truth!

My goal:

2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
