Show & Tell Friday – My Babushka   22 comments

For Show & Tell Friday this week I would like to share my wonderful babushka (grandmother in Russian) with you.  She was an amazing woman of God.  Her left arm had to be amputated at her elbow at a very young age.  My dedushka (grandfather in Russian), a Baptist minister was mistaken for someone else and was murdered. She came to the USA as a widow with a disability but that did not stop her from living a creative and fulfilled life.

My babushka loved to do embroidery.  It was fascinating to watch her work and I wish I had a picture of her working with one arm.  She was a quiet, gracious and loving woman.  I know she was praying for all of us when she was creating her works of art.  This post today is in loving memory of her faithfulness to Jesus, her family and her friends.  I want to be just like her.

Here are some of her masterpieces:

Proverbs 31:25-31
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
